February was the month of love and art at VR Bengaluru. We spread love with our Valentine’s Day activities and kick-started our annual community art event the Whitefield Art Collective (WAC).

Valentine’s Week

This year’s Valentine's Day theme at VR Bengaluru was an opportunity to say ‘VR in Love’. Picturesque backdrops and decor presented the perfect photo-ops for couples wanting to capture their special moments. It was a big success, with virtually every visitor taking a photograph for their memory books. Each day of the week leading up to the 14th was allotted to a participating brand, seamlessly integrating their offerings with the Valentine's activation. For instance, Muji's sweaters were the perfect gift for Hug Day, a quirky ring from Pallavi Foley was ideal for Propose Day and a soft-toy from Hamley's made for the right Teddy Day gift. Throughout the week, VR Bengaluru was the one-stop destination to shop for these special occasions.

We helped you decide the gift

We made things a lot easier for one of the toughest challenges during Valentine’s Day – choosing the right gift for your loved one. Our partner brands presented gifting ideas for all. Cool Ray-Ban shades for him, latest fashion-attire from Forever 21 for her, or a memorable stay at The Waverly for the couple - each gift was handpicked to make the occasion more memorable.

Message on a Tree

We offered a unique way of expressing love at VR Bengaluru. Visitors wrote special love messages for their partners and hung the notes on a tree. The best ones were chosen, and lucky winners were treated to a dinner date at The Waverly.

I BLR

The iconic I BLR installation was the hub of activity of our Valentine’s Day activations. We asked people to pose at the spot with anyone, or anything, that they loved. We had to sift through several entries to pick the two lucky winners – Ekta and Prabhat.

Tinder Swipe Right Party

Match-making took centre stage on Valentine’s Day with Tinder Swipe Right Night at the alt-rooftop bar and lounge. Singles mingled, couples rejoiced and everyone grooved to the wicked mixes from Yon DJ’s console and live performances by Rachna Ramdev and the Beat Gurus. The “buy one get one free beer” offer raised the spirits even higher at the night to remember.

Perfect Proposal

VR Bengaluru is all about making your day even more special. So when Pavan decided to make his proposal to Chaitra something special, he chose us to be party to it. A flash mob kick-started things, followed by a perfect private dinner set up for him at the Skydeck that led to him popping the big question. Not surprisingly, she said YES. The new couple made a promise to stay together forever under our starry skies. So if you too have a big day planned, get in touch with us. We would be happy to add sparkle to it.

BIG DEAL Bumper Prize Winners Announced

In January, we had the BIG DEAL shopping festival, where everyone was a winner. But the big bumper prize winners were announced this month. Jana Singha won the first prize and drove away the stunning new Tata Tiago. Sonica Dua won the second prize, a 48in LED TV. Congratulations to the lucky shoppers.

Whitefield Art Collective 2017, Connecting Communities

Whitefield Art Collective (WAC) is a platform that brings together some of the country’s t renowned artists and art institutions including Chitrakala Parishad, Santiniketan, Cholamandal Art Village, MSU Baroda & Kala Ghoda for showcasing their work. This month-long event also sees many activities like the art competition for children, pop-up art bazaar, screening of National award winning movie ‘Gali Beeja’, the Basement Art Project in association with Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and many more.

WAC Launch Event

The event attended by Sara Arkkal amongst other dignitaries of the art fraternity started with honouring the legendary Bengaluru-based artist Yusuf Arakkal’s life and work. It was followed by unveiling of the car installation by George Martin, and two-wheeler art by Murali Cheeroth as part of the VR Auto Art Project. The evening also saw a foot-tapping performance by the band Groove Tantriks.

Children’s Art Competition

The search for the next generation of talent began with the Children’s Art Competition at the centre. We were overwhelmed by the response, with more than 300 students taking inspiration from the art installations across the centre and painting their own. Some of the best schools from the city like Indus International School, National Academy for Learning - NAFL, Vidyashilp Academy, National Public School, Deen's Academy, Legacy School, Primus Public School, Bethany and many more geared up to go head-to-head in this prestigious art competition while lending to our theme of ‘Connecting Communities’. The talented young artists put up an incredible show, and Legacy School earned the top honours at the competition.
